Two Contests! (And a blog)

Two of my publishers are doing contests/giveaways of print copies of anthologies I’m in.  Kindling Press is giving away 20,001: A Steampunk Odyssey: many ways to enter (ends November 4th, 2011).  The Crimson Pact Vol. 1 is also up for grabs: via goodreads (ends in January 2012).

And since I have you here…  I just wanted to make sure you knew about my (somewhat) new blog, Words & Other Things, where I discuss “writing stuff.”

Anthologies now in Print!

The Crimson Pact Vol. 1 print edition is a 516 pages of demony goodness.  Get it for $17.99 from Amazon.  And more demon fun for you comes in the form of The Crimson Pact Vol. 2.  This one is 584 pages and $19.99 at Amazon.  Note that both are eligible for Free Super Saving Shipping.

Last, but far from least is 20,001: A Steampunk Odyssey in print.  Get your steampunk on!  Ten stories for $15 from The University of Washington Bookstore.  If you buy more books to make the online order over $20, you get free shipping (for lower 48 states).  But I have a hot tip for you!  Want free shipping without forking out the extra cash?  Call 1-800-335-7323, ask for the general book department, and regardless of the total you’ll have free shipping (I think this applies to the lower 48 states as well, but don’t know for sure).

OUT NOW! 20,001: A Steampunk Odyssey

“I’m sorry, Captain Nemo. I can’t let you do that.”

In 1870, Jules Verne published 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, an instant classic of Victorian science fiction that took readers a fantastical journey beneath the waves with dreams of wondrous technologies. A century later, Stanley Kubrick directed 2001: A Space Odyssey, a classic of modern science fiction film that took viewers on an even more fantastical journey into the stars…and showed them not only the wonders of technology, but also its terrors. In good speculative fiction style, ten authors bring readers along on a journey that combines the two.

Whether diving beneath the waves or sailing among the clouds, readers of 20,001 will see how technologies of a past that never was can spring to life with all the wonder of futures that might never be. Some futures are darker than others, however, and the cost of discoveries and innovation may be higher than any human being is willing to bear. In this anthologie readers will find aspects of both Verne and Kubrick: wonders and terrors await, and discoveries and adventures lie around every corner – not all of them pleasant. Find out for yourself what you will dare, how much you will risk, and how far you may go in this anthologie of ten tales of wonder and imagination. 20,001: A Steampunk Odyssey!

OUT NOW! Crimson Pact: Volume 2

The Pact is back and demons are as devious as ever in The Crimson Pact Volume 2.

Read 28 original stories (over 500 pages in print!), including many sequels to stories in volume one. Suzzanne Myers’s powerful flash fiction piece, “Withered Tree” continues with the exceptional short story, “Seven Dogs.” Chanté McCoy’s “Inside Monastic Walls” is followed by the literally gut-wrenching follow-up short story, “Body and Soul.” Urban fantasy mayhem is off the charts with rising star Patrick Tomlinson’s “Monsters in the Closet” and D. Robert Hamm’s “Karma.” Steampunk your thing? EA Younker’s steampunk apocalypse tale “Stand,” Sarah Hans’ sequel about professor Campion, “A More Ideal Vessel,” and Elaine Blose’s steampunk Western “Wayward Brother” will whet your appetite. The dark fantasy and adventure continues in “Dark Archive,” Sarah Kanning writes how Danielle from “Hidden Collection” must deal with the lingering effects of being possessed by a demon. Volume two mixes sequels from Gloria Weber, Justin Swapp, and Isaac Bell with new stories from Lester Smith, Kathryn McGee, Adam Israel, Valerie Dircks, T.S. Rhodes, Elizabeth Shack, Daniel Alonso, and Nayad Monroe.

New York Times Bestselling author and Campbell award nominee Larry Correia presents an exclusive short story, “Son of Fire, Son of Thunder” co-authored by Steven Diamond, about an FBI paranormal investigator and a bad ass marine who knows the exact moment of his own death. Travel to the alternate history Earth of the “Red Bandanna Boys” by Patrick M. Tracy and find out how ruthless you have to be to survive the slums of St. Nikolayev. Follow “The Trail of Blood” by Alex Haig, a horrifying Western about a bounty hunter who wants vengeance, not money. Hunt for Nazis in a disturbing 1950’s America in “Hunters Incorporated” by Kelly Swails. Patrol the steaming jungles of Vietnam with a squad of soldiers in Lon Prater’s “Last Rites in the Big Green Empty.” Then enter the mind of a godlike demon in Donald J. Bingle’s ambitions tale, “Dark Garden,” or visit the creepy shadow world created by Richard Lee Byers in “Light and Dark.”

Watch your back, the demons are coming.
